Stealing some tips

Last week I did the first round of syllabus revision and am continuing to find specific techniques, practices, exercises, tips, etc. to begin fleshing out turning this ethnography class into a DL version.
Chapter 4 of Interactive distance learning exercises that really work!, "Distance Education Principles and Best Practices," was useful to me. In particular, the excerpts from other instructors who have "gone DL" articulate many of the same concerns, issues regarding time commitment and preparedness, and general "fear" about delivering delivering teaching online that I have. Administrators or program developers in particular should read this chapter to better understand the institutional support necessary for creating and maintaining effective distance learning. Unfortunately, key pages are missing from the book review but I suppose they have to make their money somehow now doen't they?
