PCA 111 Summer 2010 Class 2

Today we will create a blog and our first blog entry. BE SURE TO WRITE DOWN YOUR LOGIN AND PASSWORD IN YOUR NOTEBOOK.

1) Go to http://www.blogspot.com/.

2) Select “Create a Blog.” Fill out the necessary information. Be sure to use an email you check as well as a password you can remember.

3) “Name Your Blog.” Think of a creative, original, (un)embarrassing name for your blog. The Blog Address can be the same as the Name of Your Blog, though remember that your Blog Address will be your URL.

4) “Choose A Template” and customize the look of your blog.

5) Select “Start Blogging” and CREATE YOUR FIRST BLOG.

6) WRITING PROMPT: Write a hypothetical letter applying for your dream job as if you have just imbibed truth serum. Tell your prospective employer why you want the job, why you are an ideal candidate, and what some of your weaknesses are which might make you less than an ideal candidate. (That’s the “truth serum” part!) Remember some of the conventions of cover letters including overall structure, tone, intended audience, professionalism, etc.”
Spend a few minutes brainstorming ideas in your notebook, in a Word document, or on your blog. Plan a structure for your letter. When you are done, edit your letter.

7) Publish your blog entry.

8) Email me the URL of your blog.
