Read Chapter 3, "Exploring Community," in Writing and Community Action and complete the prompt on page 96: "Drawing on the readings in this chapter, craft an extended definition of community. Follow the guidelines and rhetorical strategies for extended definitions explained in the chapter, and use examples and experience to support your claims."
Complete the "Writing to Discover" prompt on page 95 (adapted slightly here): "List at least six communities -- large and small, formal and informal -- to which you belong. Pick three and write a paragraph about each that describes how and why that community matters to you."
